Now in stock the "99" series from Sage at a special Introductory price, I got a chance to try this rod on our recent shop trip to Montana where i used the five weight model and found it ideal for bugging and wet fly fishing.Made for US Bobber/bung nymphers
In the UK i think the nine foot nine length will be ideal for the lake/reservoir angler who fishes both boat and bank it will also make a great Sea Trout or Summer Salmon single hander in the eight weight.
Built with the same advanced G5 Technology as the Z-Axis rods, the most obvious nymph-specific feature of the 99 is 9-foot, 9-inch length, which makes short work of long, drag-free drifts. The 99’s unique taper loads lower on the blank to generate open loops, helping avoid tangles with multiple fly and indicator rigs. At the same time, a stiffer tip section handles heavy payload delivery but retains the sensitivity needed to detect subtle takes.
The 99s also feature slightly oversized guides specifically placed to make stack mending, shake-out and line feeding easier. Put it all together and you have a light, perfectly balanced rod that casts like a 9-footer but fishes like a 10. complete with Sage guarantee the four pce rod is finished in forest green with dark green whipping the 4 and 5 weight models have a Half wells handle with cocobolo wood reel seats (top rod in picture) the 6,7 and 8 weights are fitted with dark nickel reel seats and full wells handle (as per photo)

Lamson Konic Fly Reel

The Lamson Konic reel with the same patented maintenance-free super smooth conical drag system and stainless steel roller clutch used in all Lamson Waterworks reels. In order to deliver this expensive drag in a lower priced reel Lamson have die cast the frame and spool. But this is no low-end die casting. This is Pressure Casting with molten ALDC12 aluminum alloy injected at 1,080 kgs pressure to ensure consistent, smooth and strong parts with lower porosity.(that bit sounds like a Marks and Spencer Advert!) Once cast, the frame and spool are skim cut on CNC machines, a process in which a thin surface layer is cut away to provide a finish comparable to fully-machined reel.A 100% solid polyurethane coating to provide a finish that is very resistant to gouging and abrasion.
The Konic is a lightweight, true large arbor reel. (I was at this stage going to put its good enough to eat but someone would probably try it and sue !! Tony)
